The Nike Dunk made its debut as part of the 1985 "Nike College Colors" program. This program released shoes in the school colors of 12 famous basketball programs, allowing fans to support their favorite teams with matching apparel from head to toe. This St. John's colorway was one of the first college colorways released by Nike and set new standards for basketball shoe colorways.
