Qualifying ≠ amount
Foreign years can help you qualify. But Germany pays a pension only for your German years — your years abroad are paid pro-rata by that country.
Coming from abroad?
How your foreign years count
No agreement: only your German years count toward the minimum.
Can I transfer my pension to Germany?
Usually no. Your foreign years are counted toward the German minimum and each country pays its own pro-rata pension — no money moves between systems. A real capital transfer exists only in narrow cases (EU / international-organisation staff; some private/occupational schemes, often penalised).
You can still receive a German pension while living abroad — in full within the EU/EEA/Switzerland.
Want more German pension? Pay voluntary contributions (§7 SGB VI) or back-pay study years (§207) — you build German periods rather than moving foreign money in.
↩️ Leaving Germany for good?
Non-EU citizens with no pension claim can apply to refund their own contribution share — 24 months after the last contribution. You then give up those periods. Form V0901 (also in English).
Countries with a German pension agreement

India: full agreement. Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia: special rules apply. Ukraine: signed but not yet in force — periods don't count yet.
